Worst Exercise Ever?
The "plank." (ie., holding your body in a fixed horizontal position, just your toes and forearms touching the ground). Stuart McGill, PhD states that a sustained contraction of the long thin muscles of the back can rapidly deplete these muscle cells of oxygen. Depleting cells of their oxygen supply is never a good thing!

Articles We research a wide variety of exercise, fitness, training, and sports nutrition topics. We are especially interested in the health benefits of exercise. Our review articles are written for a consumer audience. Because they are thoroughly researched, some of the reviews are quite detailed. Elite athletes, coaches, athletic trainers, and even health care professionals will find the information helpful.  We have received dozens of unsolicited testimonials regarding these review articles.

Audio Recordings: For users who would rather listen to content than read a lengthy article online, we provide downloadable audio recordings of some of the review articles in our Library. Here's an example: "Heart Rate as a Guide for Health and Fitness."

Book Reviews: We also review books on exercise, fitness, training, and sports nutrition.  Sure, everybody knows that has reviews on zillions of books.  But, wouldn't you prefer to read a review by someone with healthcare and fitness credentials?  We pull no punches: we tell you what we don't like, as well as what we did like. In general, we limit our reviews to consumer-level books, though, occasionally, we may include an academic textbook.
